Millerton Lake
Millerton Lake is located near Fresno, California among the foothills of the Siera Nevada and is formed by the Friant Dam on the San Joaquin River. The Friant Dam controls the water levels of the river, provides an irrigation supply for agriculture and a hydroelectric dam generates electricity.
Many camping and outdoor recreation activities and facilities are available for this lake area. RV's are welcome ( hookups are available), primitive camping sites and other facilities are available for tent camping. A hiking trail exists that joins the San Joaquin River trail. The park provides recreational opportunities boat trips, water skiing and nature enthusiasts. Bald eagles have a preserve area within this area and golden eagles, mule dear and badgers can be spotted. Good fishing for bass, catfish, crappie, and trout is a popular activity.
