National World War II Memorial

The National World War II Memorial, located on the National Mall in Washington, DC commemorates the sacrifice and celebrates the victory of the WWII generation. The World War II Memorial creates a distinct, evocative and serene tribute yet remains respectful and sensitive to its historic surroundings. The memorial is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2004. The memorials dedication will be on May 29th, 2004.
Directions to National World War II Memorial
Plane - Three major airports link Washington, D.C. with the rest of the country and the world. Ronald Reagan National Airport, Dulles Airport, and Baltimore-Washington Airport all have limousine, cab, or Metro services available that will connect with the National Mall. Car - Interstates 66 and 395 provide access to the Mall from the south. Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, provide access from the North. Interstate 66, Route 50 and 29 provide access from the West. Routes 50, 1, and 4 provide access from the East. Parking Parking in downtown Washington, DC is very limited, and only limited handicapped parking is available directly at the Memorial. Some on-street parking is available on Constitution Avenue, during non-rush hours only. Additional on-street parking is available on Ohio Drive SW and West Basin Drive SW.
