Perry State Park
Our family stayed there last weekend. We rented one of their cabins near the lake front. We had a terrific time! We enjoyed hiking and seeing migratory birds, including *pelicans*! We were shocked to see pelicans in KS. We also saw Canadian geese and other water fowl. The park had several nice amenities and the cabins were very nice for our family--we have 5 children, and we had brought an airbed and camping cot. It was a snug fit, but it worked great. A word of advice: though park brochures warn that they do *not* provide bedding, I didn't realize that they provided *no* linens at all. Also, the brochure states that all who rent a cabin must clean it before checking out. Please, be warned: CLEAN means different things to different people. *I* did not find the cabin to be clean. So, when we made our trip from the lake to nearby Lawrence, we had to buy cleaning supplies, as well as towels, washcloths and kitchen utensils. Don't count on any particular kitchen need to be there in the kitchenette. While we were a little caught off guard by needing to bring some particulars, we will definitely make this a repeat trip. Try to go during migrating season!
