Bardwell Lake

Built in 1963-65 to provide flood control and water conservation Bardwell Lake is 5.4 miles long and 1.2 miles wide. It has 3,570 acres of water and 3,918 acres of land. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates three campgrounds and one day-use park on Lake Bardwell. With six boat ramps, three picnic grounds, and three swim beaches operated by the Corps, and a privately run marina, there are ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors at Lake Bardwell.

Directions to Bardwell Lake

From Ennis, Texas, intersection of 287 Bypass and State Highway 34, watch for signs·To Lake Bardwell Headquarters Office, take South 287 1.2 miles and turn right onto Ensign Rd. Go 2.8 miles to Observation Drive. Turn right and proceed about one mile, office is on the right.·To Love Park boat ramp and swim area, turn left off Hwy 34 onto Lake View Road, at fourth dogleg in road take Beach Road to park.·To High View Park, campground and High View Marina, take South Highway 34 2.5 miles and turn left onto High View Road, the first road to the left after crossing the bridge, park is 0.2 miles at the end of this road·To Waxahachie Creek Park and campground, take South Highway 34 3 miles and turn right onto Bozek Road, the second road to the right after crossing the bridge, park is 1.5 miles at the end of this road·To Mott Park and campground, take South Highway 34 3.5 miles and turn left onto FM 985, the second road to the left after crossing the bridge, go 1.6 miles Mott Park entrance will be on the left
