Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery
The Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery is in Charles City County, Virginia. This 400-acre site includes several warm-water fishponds along a riparian creekside woodland (Herring Creek). Chain pickerel, warmouth, bluegill, redear sunfish, flier, bullheads, bowfin, black crappie, and largemouth bass are present. There is a gravel ramp and a handicapped-accessible pier. Gasoline motors (up to 5 hp) are allowed. There is no charge for fishing or boat ramp usage. A new picnic facility was opened in 1999.Harrison Lake is accessible for fishing and birding; trails wind along Herring Creek, and the woodlands include oak, sycamore, and tulip poplar.
Directions to Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery
Return right on SR 5 and turn left. Proceed 7.7 miles and turn left on SR 658/Kimages Rd. for 0.4 mile. The hatchery is ont the right.
