Description:
Great for Hiking-Camping-Biking-Fishing-Hunting-EmergenciesThis sale includes (2) open center, side firing stoves & (1) 4 ounce fuel bottle with flip top spout.Bottles are new and unused. Fuel not included. Each stove is hand made from (2) cans, press fitted and additionally sealed with either JB weld or high temperature RTV. All stoves are hand polished with extra fine steel wool. For larger pots you can make a circular pot stand from half inch hardware cloth, as long as the height of the stand is level with the top of the stove. As with any alcohol stove, some type of windscreen is advisable in breezy conditions; you can use a store bought one or make one on-site from rocks, a bandanna on two sticks, etc. which is more convenient. Folded aluminum foil or aluminum flashing also work well.USING THE STOVE: Fill a bit less than half with fuel (maximum amount), ignite (initial flame may be invisible) and wait 1 minute for the stove to preheat and pressurize the inner chamber. When blue flames begin to emit from the burner holes you can then add your vessel to seal the top of the stove and begin cooking. Cold temperatures will increase the preheating time. I boiled 2.5 cups of very cold water in 9 minutes, temperate water will boil more quickly. The stove is cool enough to put back in your pack about 2 minutes after the flame goes out. One ounce of fuel will generally be enough for about 1 minute of preheating time plus 8 to 9 minutes of cooking time (test done outside at about 60 F). This will boil about 2 cups of temperate water for a few minutes. FUEL:The proper fuel to use is denatured alcohol solvent a.k.a. marine stove fuel a.k.a. shellac thinner, which can be purchased at any hardware store. You may also use 90% rubbing alcohol. Some people use the fuel additive known as Heet (make sure you use the proper formulation, usually in the yellow container) but there are other additives in it as it is designed as a vehicle fuel additive, so I do not personally use it, but if you are in a pinch for fuel you can just stop at an automotive store. This sale includes (2) stoves, so if you require more time you can simply alternate stoves, as you cannot safely add fuel while a stove is burning or hot.If your stoves do not perform as shown you may return it for a refund. I take pride in each stove and want you to be satisfied with your purchase.* An added benefit of this stove is its potential to start a fire. By polishing the bottom (chocolate works well) to a mirror finish it can be used as a parabolic reflector to concentrate the sun's rays onto tinder.* You can also flip the stove over and use the bottom to hold Esbit tabs or other solid fuel tabs in conjunction with a pot holder.
