Description:
HIGH PEAK ALPINE PAK BACKPACKING SLEEPING BAG 20-F The Alpine Pak from High Peak is a lightweight, mummy style sleeping bag that weighs only 3.2 lbs. but can be compressed to 7" x 14" to easily fit in your backpack and take up minimal space. The Alpine Pak has a temperature rating of 20 degrees F with dimensions of 34” x 90”. This is a big bag and two bags can be zipped together to form a large, comfortable sleeping surface.. Additional Features Color: Navy / Blue Outer Lining: 210T Soft Nylon Ripstop Inner Lining: 190T Soft Nylon Fill: 1.65 lbs of Dura Loft Micron Zipper: Anti-snag two way zipper Hood: Flip over hood with easy access draw string Compression sack Limited Lifetime Warranty Machine Washable Selecting the proper sleeping bag for you Synthetic-fill vs. down fill-synthetic-fill bags can provide some insulation even when wet. Add to this the fact that they dry out quickly means they will be lighter to carry than down bags which absorb and hold water. Synthetic bags are usually less expensive for the same temperature ratings. Mummy shape vs. rectangle-the mummy shape provides the most efficient insulation design and therefore keeps you warmer at colder, higher elevations. The rectangular shaped bags provide more room to change sleeping positions but it also means there is more space for your body to heat. Decide on the kind of sleeper you are to help you decide the shape that might work best for you. Nylon material vs. flannel-the nylon will feel colder if you have a lot of bare skin touching the bag. A simple solution is to wear socks and light thermal underwear. The flannel lining is an additional layer of insulation but it is also heavier so this is something to consider when you look at the overall weight you will be carrying in your backpack. Nylon material is also easier to compress which means it takes up less room in your backpack to leave room for other valuable essentials. Temperature rating-this simply states the most extreme temperature that the bag is designed for. It is not an exact science because everyone is different and have different cold tolerances. A bag that has a “0 degrees” rating simply means that most people will feel warm in this bag with temperatures as low as 0 degrees. Your tolerance for cold should be taken into consideration. Women usually need a lower temperature rating then the actual outside temperature because of smaller body frames. These numbers are designed as guides from the manufacturers and not a guarantee. When in doubt, always go with a bag with a slightly lower rating than you think you will need. You can always unzip the bag to let some air in if it is too warm Sleeping pads-this is a sometimes overlooked but essential component of keeping you warm and comfortable. The pad will act as a buffer between you and the cold ground as well as reduce the compression of the fibers of your bag. The more air the fibers can hold means more insulation and more warmth. It also extends the life of your bag. Thermal underwear-it’s a good idea to wear socks and light underwear while sleeping. It keeps your bare skin from contacting the bag so you stay warmer and it keeps body oils off the sleeping bag so it stays cleaner and lasts longer. In colder temperatures, you may want to sleep in heavier pants and even a jacket. Do whatever it takes to keep you warm and protected Paypal is the preferred payment method.
